Most people think diabetes appears suddenly. Mine did not. It built up over years, quietly, slowly, and very obviously in hindsight.
Here are the signs I ignored:
- constant thirst
- blurred vision
- unpredictable hunger
- sugar cravings that felt emotional
- exhaustion that sleep could not fix
- brain fog at times I needed clarity
- late night thirst
- mid afternoon crashes
If these sound familiar, do not brush them off like I did.
These are not signs of poor discipline. They are signs of insulin resistance.
Most people think insulin resistance shows up on a blood test. It doesn’t. It shows up in your life first.
The science is clear. Diabetes develops 7 to 10 years before diagnosis. Your body whispers long before it breaks.
My wake up call came when I missed the Northern Lights in Iceland because my vision was too foggy to see them.
That was the moment I realised my body had been warning me for months.
Here is the good news. The earlier you catch insulin resistance, the faster you can reverse it.
A few things that helped me:
- walking after meals
- eating only foods under 5% carbohydrate content
- reducing evening eating
- managing stress
- creating a consistent routine
If these symptoms feel familiar, you are not alone. You do not need to wait for a diagnosis.
This is what I help people with every day. If you want support building the structure to reverse insulin resistance and protect your long term health, book a call with me.
